API for export/import of data

| I'd like to use LucidChart as part of my project management workflow. It would be extremely tedious, though, to retype all the information to/from the chart. Would it be possible to do a basic export API that would write out each shape (shape code, text) and each arrow/connection (from node, to node)? That would really be helpful to me. | |

| If you were able to re-import the data back into the editor this would also allow local backup or archive of the saved online content. This would be helpful. | |

| I see in http://www.lucidchart.com/pages/features that LucidCharts has APIS now!! But where are they? I can't find anything describing or linking to an API. | |

| ghendry, Our apologies, this must have slipped through the revisions without our catching it. While we have immediate plans to open up an API, it is not ready at this time. We will be in contact with you as we move this forward. Thanks for your patience. Darrell | |

| Will this API be server based, or Browser based? I know that the usual is to expose a server API, but it just occurred to me that a JavaScript API or Plug-in architecture would allow less round trips to the server and yield a fast response time. Keep us informed about the API, thanks... | |

| The API will allow plugins for the client to be written in Javascript, enabling third-party development of new shape libraries, adjusting the user interface or menus, as well as adding entirely new functionality like visualizing data from a sales funnel. Some server API may be available, but is taking a backseat to allowing third parties to develop additional functionality for LucidChart itself. Again, this is not coming in the next few weeks, but is definitely coming When It's Ready(tm). | |
