Introducing offline mode & a sneak peek of LucidpressOctober 17, 2013
Our team is thrilled to announce big changes to our application and business—ones that will take your visual communication to exciting new places, both online and off. We’re pleased to introduce a Lucidchart app with offline capability for Google Chrome, as well as a revamped image manager. And read on for a sneak peek of Lucidpress, our nearly-finished drag and drop publishing application!
Chrome offline application
Users have requested an offline mode for years. Several years ago, we briefly offered a beta version of this feature but were forced to pull support for it when we learned that most browsers lacked the necessary stability. Fortunately, that’s no longer the case.
Google Chrome users can now install our free application to enable offline document creation and editing. Please note that some features, such as real-time collaboration and document download, are not accessible during offline mode. The app is available for Chrome version 28 or later. We recommend Chrome 29 for an optimal experience, as some document features are only available on this latest version.
After the app is installed, you will need to sign in to Lucidchart via the browser to download your Lucidchart files to your computer. Then you can diagram online or offline to your heart’s content. The next time you log in to Lucidchart, all changes will sync instantly with your online account.
Have you had a chance to check out our streamlined image manager? To access it at any time, just hit the “i” key while in the editor. You’ll see your images appear in your toolbar, along with a grey plus sign. Select this icon to quickly upload and organize images. For your convenience, we’ve added integrations with Flickr, Facebook, and Dropbox so users can easily find their web-based images and add them to Lucidchart.
Drumroll please! You know Lucidchart as an intuitive, easy-to-use tool for online communication. We’re proud to bring that same experience to the layout and design world with Lucidpress. Watch the video below for a sneak peek, then sign up for our beta launch to be the first to try Lucidpress when we release it this fall. You won’t want to miss this!
