Open your Visio files in Chrome for free


If you're using the Google Chrome browser, any Visio file can be opened in read-only mode with our free viewer. Open attached Visio files inside your Gmail account or across the web.

To install the extension:

  1. Download the extension by going to the listing here.
  2. Click the "Add to Chrome" button on the extension’s details page.
  3. Click "Add" to grant Lucidchart access to your Visio files.

To use in Gmail:

  1. Click the “Open in Lucidchart” link that appears next to the attached Visio file.
  2. The file will open within your existing Lucidchart account. If you don't have an account, we'll create a free trial account for you to view, edit, and save the imported file.

To use on the web:

  1. Once you've installed the extension, open a Visio file online by right-clicking on the document's hyperlink and selecting the "View in Lucidchart" option.
  2. The file will open in a read-only Lucidchart viewer, or in your Lucidchart account if you have one.
  3. If you don't have an account, click the sign-up button within the viewer and complete the fields to provision a trial account.

Open your Visio files in Firefox for free

If you're using the Mozilla Firefox browser, any Visio file can be opened in read-only mode with our free viewer. Open your files from Gmail or another website.

To install the extension:

  1. Download the extension by going to the listing here.
  2. Click the "Add to Firefox" button on the extension’s listing.
  3. Click "Install Now" to complete the action.

To use in Gmail:

  1. Click the “Open in Lucidchart” button next to the attached Visio file.
  2. The file will open within your existing Lucidchart account. If you don't have an account, we'll create a free trial account for you view, edit, and save the imported file.

To use on the web:

  1. Once you've installed the extension, open a Visio file online by right-clicking on the document's hyperlink and selecting the "View in Lucidchart" option.

  3. To save or edit the file, sign into your existing Lucidchart account. If you don't have an account, click the sign-up button within the viewer and complete the fields to provision a trial account.

Open your Visio files in Confluence for free

Our Confluence plugin will enable your entire organization to view Visio files for free, even if they don't have a Lucidchart account.

To use the plugin:

  1. Within Confluence, click the "View Visio Files" button to view a list of all Visio files attached to the Confluence page.
  2. Select the desired Visio file.
  3. A new browser tab will open with a read-only web view of the selected diagram.
  4. To save or edit the file, click the sign-up button within the new tab to provision a trial account in Lucidchart.

Lucidchart's existing API now allows any application to incorporate our Visio viewer technology.
