Getting Ready for the AWS Summit in New York

The AWS Summit in New York is right around the corner, July 17th at the Javits Center in NYC. It’s one of the few remaining AWS Summits for 2018 and one of my favorites to attend. It’s a great place to talk tech with colleagues I don’t often get to see in person and, for a Pacific Northwest native like me, there’s nothing quite like a visit to the Big Apple.
The New York Summit is also unique in that it’s scheduled about mid-year and midway between annual AWS re:Invent conferences. So it’s a great time for AWS to announce new services and features to maintain momentum and excitement, and historically, this is what they’ve done (see below). This approach works, so I don’t expect this year to be different. I’m excited to hear what AWS has in store for us.
I’ll be attending the keynote in the morning to hear AWS CTO Werner Vogels and GM Matt Woods, and then I’ll sit in on a few breakout sessions (depending on announcements) and visit the Expo floor to see who’s there. After the Summit, I’m heading back to the Lucid office in Utah for our annual company hackathon and for my AI/ML meetup.
