At Lucidchart, we have enjoyed working as a partner with AWS to be on the cutting edge of cloud technology. Our application was built on AWS from the start, and in the last ten years, we have found some particularly innovative ways to improve our application’s performance while often reducing costs using new AWS services.
So when the opportunity came up to speak on the AWS video series, “This Is My Architecture,” we took it and ran. This series has featured companies such as Dow Jones, Siemens, Okta, Slack, Airbnb, Netflix, and Lyft, and it highlights how these companies have built their cloud architecture so other Amazon customers can take inspiration.
In the latest of this series, our principal DevOps engineer, David Torgerson, talked about our migration to Aurora. For us at Lucid, Aurora has lived up to its outstanding claims—we were able to move to Aurora with zero downtime, and it has allowed us to keep completely up-to-date data in multiple regions with a delay of only a few milliseconds. Check out the video below.

And if your company also decides to take the plunge and switch to Aurora, we want to help. Lucidchart offers a complete AWS shape library and an AWS import that will automatically lay out your VPCs visually so you can easily document and share what’s happening with your architecture.
